About Us

Three Rivers Talking Newspaper (3RTN) is one of over 500 independently run Talking Newspaper organisations in the UK. Our listeners are based in Waveney, an area that spans the border of North Suffolk and South Norfolk.

Inspired by the work of our neighbouring Talking Newspaper, Sound East, which covers the Lowestoft area, our organisation was set up over twenty years ago to provide local news for people living in Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth, Loddon and the surrounding areas and who have a visual impairment or other reading disability.

Content for our weekly talking newspaper is drawn principally from the Beccles & Bungay Journal, supplemented by local news items from the Eastern Daily Press and/or East Anglian Daily Times, with full permission from the copyright owners.  Our quarterly magazine, Valley Sounds, contains a mix of local interviews, memories, poems, gardening and cookery tips.

All our staff are volunteers and we rely entirely on our own fundraising and voluntary contributions.

3RTN is a registered charity (Number 1013936) and is a member of the Talking News Federation.
